Signed, Sealed and Delivered.

We own the house -- we signed on the dotted line early this morning and spent the better part of the day sitting on the ground (no chairs yet) and waiting for contractors to come give us bids. We got our new washer and dryer which is a good thing after 12 days on the road. We cleared out most of our stuff from the hotel so we can make a quick getaway tomorrow morning in order to meet the moving van at 9am at the house. I'm sure it's going to be crazy but at least we'll be in the house and can then unpack in our own time.
We're very happy to be close to finishing this long journey! It will be nine months to the day on Sunday that Lance took the severance and left Mythic. What a crazy ride!!

Great great great day...

Both kids came out of school today with the happiest faces. They both absolutely loved it...
They made a ton of friends, everyone was so nice, they both had music today, they got to go on the playground twice and it was an amazing day! Lance and I were so relieved that they had fun... :)

I had a quiet day but it did not seem long enough! Lance and I met for lunch and then went to pick out a new washer/dryer because our house did not come with that. We're all set for closing on Friday too so that's one less thing to remember!

So, we're off to meet the painter to get an estimate on painting one room in the house.
Happy days all around here in Colorado!

We have SUPERIOR kids!!

Well, the kids are at school as we speak. They started at Superior Elementary School -- Go Stallions! -- this morning and were so excited to get there. They were up early and could not have been more ready. We always take a photo in front of the house before the first day of school so we did the same this year. Yep, we're living at the Residence Inn until Friday.

Here they are out front of the school. The school sits atop a hill so it was pretty windy out. It is really warm today -- supposed to be in the high 70s/low 80s. The kids line up outside. Henry was able to meet a few of his classmates before heading into the building. Emily is actually in a portable classroom and she thinks it is the coolest thing ever. We had not met her teacher yet so we dropped her off in the classroom. She is sitting between two girls in the front row! The school is over capacity at about 640 kids. Emily's class has 22. I'm not sure how many Henry has in his class but he does have a turtle in their room which is very exciting.

So Lance is going to work and Sadie and I are going for a walk and to get the car cleaned!!
Sounds like a good day all around. It will be weird though. It will be my first day off (with the exception of some travel this summer) since June 18th and Lance's 2nd day of work since February 4th.
Our new life is getting off to a good start!!

Looks like we made it!!!

We arrived in Superior at about 12:45 last night after 1,941 miles across the middle of the country. It was a really fun journey... and not half as dreadful as we expected. The kids were really good... they travel quite well. Sadie was a delight... quiet and sweet and willing to get out and pee even if she did not have to. Lance is the real hero -- he drove every single one of those miles without complaint. I offered a few times but he knew it was a half-hearted offer. It was all worth it to make it here safely and having had a great family adventure.

We stopped by the house today to look at it again and get some measurements.
The kids had a tour of their new school and are all set for their first day on Wednesday.
Tomorrow, we plan to just decompress -- do laundry, go school supply shopping, etc. Then the real fun begins when we close on the new house and wait for the moving truck.
I had to include this photo... Our car is trashed... inside because of the kids, outside because of the bugs. One thing I am definitely doing this week is going to the car wash and having it detailed.

Day Six -- Wichita to Superior, Colorado!!

Our last day on the road will be our longest so we planned a fun outing for the morning and early afternoon. We went to a historical town called Cowtown in Wichita. It is modelled after the old west town and is a very cool outing. Plus Sadie was allowed to come along.

Here's Lance, Sadie and the kids in the front. Sadie did not growl at this statue!

Another great family shot of all of us with the cowboys in the back.

Sadie did not like us riding in the horse drawn covered wagon and barked at the horses as the kids and I left to head to the "farm"

They stage "gunfights" in the street which Henry thought was the absolute coolest thing ever. Real guns and gun powder and it was loud.

I coersed my family into this... except Emily -- she was game! I'll scan the real thing once we are set up in our house. It was hilarious!!

They had a lot of great prop, reproductions and real antiques. The kids loved being able to go in all the buildings and check it all out!

We left Wichita around 3pm for the last long long drive west. It's about an 8 hour drive to Superior. The road out that way (in western Kansas) is just incredible. Nothing for miles and miles around you. We headed out during the late afternoon so we got to see the sunset from the road and it looked just like the sunset from the Florida Keys... the sun just sinks into the horizon... nothing obstructing it's path!

PS -- those are dead bugs on the windshield!

Sadly, this is the only state crossing where we did not get the state sign. It is not reflective or lit up so we saw it but could not catch a photo. Luckily as we were finishing dinner in Colby, KS, we saw this sign directing us to our final destination.

And one more funny bit.... the company that transported Lance's car was called Igor's Trucking... low and behold, along highway 70 about 20 miles in Colorado, this truck passes us and yep, it has Lance's car on it. His car was just in front of the yellow corvette. We waved like maniacs to the driver and he must have thought we were crazy!
