Straight up Route 25 into Wyoming. I was very sad to see that the PR department for Wyoming has replaced one of my favorite teenage memories. The sign into Wyoming used to say... "Howdy, You're in Big Wyoming" I know this because I went there once for about three hours when I was in high school at the tail end of a ski trip. My brother Steve went to CSU in Fort Collins which is really close to Cheyenne. Now it says....
After driving around Cheyenne, we headed to the north-east on Route 85. This is the most rural road I've ever been on. And you stay on it for about four hours. Just cows, some deer, a few little towns and it was spectacular.
We had a litle trouble finding our campground and ended up seeing Mount Rushmore at night, just from the RV. It is very pretty at night. But we were too tired and ready to get to bed to stop and see from anywhere but the windows.
