So let's see.... Henry had another Songbirds concert in which he again played the drums. He is working us pretty hard to get him a snare drum. It's only a matter of time until we have a full set in the garage. He also finished a big project called Breakfast Biographies where he did a biography of Nathan Hale (the famous patriot from the Revolutionary War). Here he is with his Nathan Hale cereal box!

And he's been playing a lot of lacrosse. The guys in this photo are the older team but I thought you might like to see our view during practices and games! Nice!

Emily participated in a talent show with her friend Rachel. They did a gymnastics routine to Taylor Swift's "You Belong to Me". They practiced a lot and really did a great job. The video is here too so you can see them in action.

Also, Emily got glasses. Not for distance but for reading. She really likes to wear them and we've been tough on her about only wearing them when she is reading!!

Another big event for the school was the "Egg Drop". Each class broke up into groups of five kids to come up with a way to protect a raw egg while dropping it from some high heights. I helped out with the 2nd graders. This is me, opening the egg that Emily's team made. They packed their egg in bubble wrap and a larger plastic easter egg. See how excited Emily is?

Yeah!! It made it. The 2nd graders did so well with their experiments that all five groups' eggs survived the drop down a flight of stairs....

So off to the roof I went. Yep, that's me... on the roof of the school. Don't worry, I was very careful. The kids loved having me up there. Two of the eggs survived that drop and then we voted to decide which egg would go to the school-wide drop. Emily's class egg was the one that went to represent the 2nd grade. What was in it? Styrofoam and toothpaste!! The final school-wide egg drop was this morning and our egg survived another throw off the roof!

The house is close to finished. We had the stone on our fireplaces put in last week and we love it. It really looks great. I am still trying to decorate the great room... putting stuff in the nooks (yes, this is "the house of MANY nooks")
So let's see -- going all the way back to move-in day.
Here's the original great room. (Sorry the photo is dark... as were the walls)

We had the room painted cream colored almost immediately on moving in but we left the entertainment center because we knew we were going to demolish it.

Here it is after we did the demolition!

Here is the fireplace, pre-stone.

And here it is post-stone with some decorations -- much of which I plan to return tomorrow and try again!

Wow, that's a big change.
Well, I hope you've enjoyed these photos. We are looking forward to a very busy May and a great summer. We hope to see you soon!
